Fun Friday - TV disguises!

Fun Friday – Three Creative Ways to Hide Your TV

Let's face it... even the biggest, prettiest TV is still a big black rectangle hanging on the wall. If you'd rather have your living room look a little more like a designer space, here are three fun ways to disguise your TV when you're not binge-watching your favorite show!

1. The FREE Option – YouTube TV ArtThis is the easiest (and cheapest!) trick of them all. Just open YouTube from your TV's remote and search for "TV Art Frame." You'll find endless choices—from famous works of art and beautiful landscapes to seasonal scenes and relaxing fireplaces. Many even include soft background music or rotate through a gallery of artwork. Sure, the screen glows a bit more than a real painting, but for the price of free, it's a fun and surprisingly effective way to dress up the old boob tube.

2. Samsung Frame TV and LG Gallery + - Now this is where technology meets interior design! If you're shopping for a new TV, Samsung's Frame TV and the LG Gallery+ has completely won me over.

2A With the Samsung Frame, you can choose decorative frame styles like White, Modern Brown, Modern Teak, or and Gold Metal, and the TV is incredibly slim, so it actually looks like framed artwork. It even adds digital matting, adjusts the brightness to match the room's lighting, and can automatically turn on when someone enters the room and off when no one is there. You can display their free artwork, upload your own family photos and your own art, or subscribe to Samsung's Art Store for about $49 a year and choose from thousands of masterpieces.

Downside - If you're a TV Buff, this may not be the best option for you. What makes this work for art, works against your movie viewing. Because it's back lit from the sides, evening viewing and watching movies with darker scenes you'll the blacks won't be black. From what I understand it can be distracting. However, if TV viewing is light, in the background, and you have a dedicated OTHER TV in the serious viewing area this will work. Homes today often have several TV's; this allows you to effectively disguise the others.

2B The LG G-Series or G6 Gallery edition - 2026 Premier features a great picture and designed to sit flush against the wall. The G series includes your wall mount in the box! the LG Gallery+ has that dedicated art platform that's free with thousands of famous pieces of art to choose from (no subscriptions) and the blacks actually look like it's on a canvas. This may be my personal Favorite - I'm in the market and do like my movies! I'll update this with my review once I have it installed! I want good art PLUS good TV, this might just be it. Comes in a 55" and 65" unit. Wish they had smaller sizes (I'd prefer a 45" having a 55" now) I guess you can't have everything!

Downside - None yet! it's brand new - everyone says the picture is great, but I haven't found reviews on the art from purchasers.

Their retractable artwork is designed to cover virtually any TV, whether it's surface-mounted or recessed into the wall. They provide the mounting hardware, beautiful artwork options, and custom frames so your television disappears behind real-looking art until you're ready to watch. It's a fantastic option for homeowners who want the best of both worlds—a gorgeous room and a great TV. Choose their art or they'll create a picture from yours.
